Fresno, CA (October 13, 2008)- Pacific Printing has received three Chain-of-Custody (COC) certifications- Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). This triple certification distinguishes Pacific Printing as a leader in environmental practices for the print industry.
Triple certification is the latest development in Pacific Printing’s company-wide commitment to going green. “We have always taken our environmental responsibilities seriously. With these three COC certifications, we continue to strengthen that commitment by protecting the environment and its natural resources- from sustainable forestry practices to the delivered printed piece.” says Brad Stiers, President/CEO of Pacific Printing.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non-profit organization, promoting environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests. FSC certification is recognized internationally as the most rigorous environmental and social standard for responsible forest management.
The Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is a global, independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization, founded in 1999 which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification. The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood products ensuring they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.
The Sustainable Forestry Imitative (SFI) program is based on the premise that responsible environmental behavior and sound business decisions can co-exist. The SFI program is a comprehensive system of principles, objectives and performance measures developed by foresters, conservationists and scientists that combine the perpetual growing and harvesting of trees with the protection of wildlife, plants soil and water quality.
